How has the Saturn Astra sold in the US?

I haven't seen any but I'd imagine they would do well being a smaller more fuel efficient vehicle.

they're a new model, so there arent that many around, but when i was buying my vue there seemed to be a lot of interest at the dealership in the astras on the lot so im going to assume they're going to do okay with them. they also have the 5 door models(a la matrix/vibe) and those are in style right now too

Default Astra Review

The Astra is a great little car. The cockpit in the Astra XR model is very upscale for a car of this size. This car is quality from the thud of the doors closing to the high quality steering wheel control stauks. The Astra handles like a luxury European car like BMW or Mercedes it is an outstanding vehicle to drive. There are not that many on the road but the Astra is truly a hidden gem.

Yeah? At the end of the day, it's still just a lousy GM vehicle.

Actually, no it not. Its a great GM vehicle that's part of the new gen of GM cars. The sad thing is GM ruined its reputation in America by giving us crap cars. GMs in other countries are better cars but in the US GM focused on trucks. GM is now bringing in its best cars from around the world to compensate, including the Opel Astra and Holden Commodore because thier American product was so bad.

GM's new gen product is of high quality, but there's so little of it. So far the Cadillac brand has been mostly made over, but we're starting to see good product from GM. The new Malibu won critical awards and next year it will debut the Cruze to fight the Prius and Civic - GM will finally have a decent small car.

The Astra is from GM's Opel in Germany and is a great car. There's a new version coming in 2010 I believe that is even better, but the Astra in the US has been ignored by the buying public for some reason. Its probably the best car Saturn offers and is a good value.

I took a gander at one at a Saturn dealer. They're built in Belgium, with mostly European parts plus a Japanese-source transmission. It's sharp, but fairly small for the price.
