I want a new religion. I may have to create my own. I may have to be quiet about it. But I'm sick of your religion.
GOD is just bigger than that! I know this for a fact! I just can't prove it right now. If I could, I'd probably be in more trouble than I think I am in now.
How's that for a paradox?
That is quite a paradox.
You don't like man-made religions so you're gonna create your own.
Something tells me you're gonna look back on this thread some day and say "What was I thinking?!"

Don't get me wrong. Some christians have truely "got it." I hope they always will. I wish I could.
And there are a few athiests out there that I think "have it." Well, maybe only a couple.

Show me something practical. Show me your true and unadulterated testimony. Not your belief in some book.
I don't have a problem with the book. I think the Book would be just fine if us dorks would just leave it alone and create our own "Book", our own Life Experience!

These are answers based on my own experience, I want to share them with you, only that
Heaven = Filling your heart with unconditional love for every living being
Hell = A dry and sad heart without love in it.
Heaven = Self contentment
Hell = The everburning fire of endless desires
Heaven = The absence of perturbation in our minds
Hell = Identificantion with the ego and it's attachments, whims, likes, dislikes and all negative mental states that arouse from it.
Heaven = Being submerged in the divine bliss, ever new, everlasting quenching the thirst for more desires and material experiences
Hell = The feeling of wanting more everytime a new desire is fulfilled.
Now knowing this, life is a gift from the creator to live and learn, learn and grow, make mistakes and develop wisdom, there is no punishment except the one we ourselves attract when we use our freewill without wisdom.
Inside us there is something eternal, divine, unconquerable, perfect, clear and pure which is the soul, millions of lifes of mistakes aren't able to leave it's mark in the soul, and eventually her light will reign supreme even if she was previously covered by the mud of millions of mistakes and earthly experiences.
The end of the journey? Self realization, being able to become one with God, we'll all get there in our given time, so why suffer, just release yourself and enjoy the ride! Choose the path that pleases you most and stick to it.

And I'll admit that I want to start my own religion because I want a new position! But who on this planet hasn't tried to do the same? With the BEST of intentions!
And yes, DOTL. I am serious. But I'm ok. Nothing out of the ordinary for me. I'm sober, and I quit tobacco, and now I have my crazy mind to deal with! I've eliminated a couple of symptoms and now I have to like Boyce says so perfectly, "Different like everybody else".
I want to hear your testimony, but I'm afraid of what they say about that Carpenter. What if a miracle happens and I get "converted". It doesn't sit too well with me what's gonna happen to all my "buddies".
You know what I mean? I still can't reconcile with that little canyon. What about my Jewish, Muslim, Islamic, Buddist, Athiest, Doubting Thomas, Pagan, and otherwise New-Age friends? Do they really all have to go to Hell?
I get soooo upset when I see someone saying something completely arrogant about their knowledge, education or worldly experiences that have "proved" to them that there is no God. Uh, Hello??!! They wouldn't have a brain to think with if God hadn't created them!!!

IMO the idea of everlasting punishment is the product of cruel and vindictive minds from the dark ages.
what is the everlasting fire of the bible? the everlasting anxiety and suffering produced by the mental images of unfulfilled desires.
it is a non-stop cycle because everytime you fulfill a desire, a stronger desire to fulfill it again appears.
now remember the kingdom of God should be seeked within and not outside, and it is in this kingdom where you will be freed, whomever seeks this kingdom with a sincere heart will find it, be it an hindu, jew, muslim, agnostic or atheist.
there is no right or wrong way to God, no one will ever be punished for listening their hearts and seeking god by their own understandment of it.

Trav didn't you grow up Catholic? I grew up Mormom. Both faiths believe in some sort of Hell. I don't want to speak for you, but it appears that you have searched for truth such as I have. And we have very similar views but many would say that we are going to "hell". I totally agree on your view of hell. I think many are actually living hell on earth and just don't realize it.
The point that I'm making is to McGowdog is that you do have options. If your "belief's" don't bring you peace of mind then it may be time to let go of some of them. It sounds like you may be in the "anger phase" of the transition. Many people feel very betrayed when they start to learn the truth about the bible. Keep searching until you start to find peace (even if you stay in the Christian faith), you will then be aligned with the Divine.
