No. It would be the same as saying all communists are guilty by association of the acts of Stalin or Mao.

That's a hard question to answer. I think that for a lot of non-Christians (particularly those who have had unpleasant experiences with Christians), the answer would be "yes." Certain types of Christians do seem to be only slightly less judgmental and hateful than the Westboro Baptists, and this behavior tends to be seen as characteristic of Christians in general. Fortunately, millions of Christians have absolutely nothing in common with the Westboro Baptists.

I have heard many liberals say this, and that however benign a church may seem underneath its as ravenous as Westboro and just as damaging to gay people and free-thinkers. Do you think that is so?
Are all Christians guilty? No, most Christians in the world are moderate/liberal and don't agree with anything WBC says. Are Fundamentalists guilty? Yes, because their ideology is the same, even if they aren't as obnoxiously vocal about it.

Both groups condemn gays, both groups use the same ridiculously stupid arguments to demonize them, and both groups are despised by most people.

Don't want to be associated with WBC? Stop living in the stone age.

Default Stupid

That's like saying jihads who go and commit suicide bombings represent Muslims as a whole, or one percentage of vile New Yorkers represents New Yorkers as a whole, or Congo represents Africa as a whole. Very silly and ignorant on anyone who thinks like this. Stereotyping leads to prejudice, and negative feelings and actions soon take place directed at the group that is spotlighted.
