I have an acquaintance I really do like. We don't see each other, it's one of those things where she'll send forwards and jokes and we'll exchange "Hi, how are you?" maybe once or twice a year.
It looks like she has been "saved". I'm really happy for her and I hope this path brings her the peace she has been seeking. However, she is now sending lots of email, almost on a daily basis, about Jesus, the rapture, links to (what I consider to be) conspiracy theorists and religious sites. She's not just sending it to me, but to all those on her distribution list.
It really doesn't bother me, but I do think it is inappropriate. I remember when the presidential election was on its way. My cousin used to send me all these ridiculous emails about Obama, most of which were just a bunch of bull, and it was really annoying. It's not because I was a huge Obama supporter, but because it is a waste of my time to read slanderous claims as opposed to real info about the men running for office. But I digress.
This isn't nearly as bad, but politics and religion are two topics, IMO, you really shouldn't force on other people.
I do not find the Message of God or the beliefs of another a personal threat, I have two choices, ignore them and delete . . or read them. My email control panel provides me with a delete button for my convenience. If someone kept sending me emails about chopping people to bitty pieces or something along the lines of illegal and insanely offensive, only then would I request to be overlooked. What annoys me is the heaps of flyers and tangible junk in my actual offline mailbox that I cannot control.
my mom use to send me chain mails all the time. I put her on block until she stopped
LMAO! You blocked your MOTHER???? That's hilarious. But I don't blame you, especially if it worked!
Oh, and I'm kinda wishy-washy on the subject. I'm not a born-againer (once was enough) and ain't even a little bit interested in religious material. If I got it on a daily basis it would probably irritate me pretty quickly, but I'd most likely just ignore and delete it. But I'd never send it -- that nor political junk -- unless it was really funny.
I remember when my favorite uncle was "saved"...he became the most annoying and eventually avoided relation. From my experience you have to lay out the boundaries right away, because they will not stop bombarding you with the proselytizing until you tell them. You can still be tactful and polite about it, but you must tell them or it will never end.

Yeah, but its not like I didnt ask her to stop first. She kept doing it and it was at my job so i had to do what i had to do.
