In the past, a smart woman would sometimes choose a mistress for her husband in order to keep him happy and feed his sexual appetite. Sometimes the wife would even present the mistress with gifts to make sure this mistress was satisfied with the arrangement. This gave the wife control over who her husband was sleeping with.
Yoko Ono did this for John Lennon. She picked out a mistress (May Pang) for him when they were going through marital problems.
Would you ever consider something like this? I think it's an interesting concept. It means you can pick someone whom your husband is not going to become romantically involved with and it allows you to keep tabs on what's going on, thereby, ensuring the marriage stays intact.
Sure; right after I picked out the dress to wear to my funeral because this would only happen over my dead body. (I love that phrase even though literally I know it doesn't make sense)
If I wasn't interested in pleasing my SO (and expecting him to do the same in return) I don't think we should even be in a relationship.
I also don't think it would matter how much "control" you felt you had in picking out his "mistress". You could be watching them and it doesn't guarantee that nothing more would develop between them.

Woof, what is this mistress/open marriage/happy ending/cheating obsession you've got, girl? Every other thread has something to do with unsatisfied husband, him going on a side, or inviting some other woman into the marriage. Don't worry - your future husband will be fully satisfied with you, you seem to have a healthy sexual appetite, so I'm not sure why you are expressing such interests in open marriages of all sorts.
So if my wife gets the better of me, so that I just can't take it anymore, can I hire some dude instead of being taken to the cleaners through a divorce?
