Little children go holding their parents hand in the street. Adults don't need that.
Well, of course adults don't need it. But it's just nice to be able to touch your SO in a nonsexual way in public. I find it quite nice, and nobody considers it irritating or off putting (except possibly yourself?). Look, to each his own, but it's interesting that you autmatically equate someone holding another's hand with childishness. That's all.

I think that's just something that can be done behind closed doors. That way, others don't have to see it.
Ill hold hands with my wife touch foreheads or something of that nature. Eating her face in public. Not something I did even when I was a teenager (AKA walking hard on) I wasn't keen on sucking face in public
Now at home wife walks in with a can of motor oil and jumper cables and its ON. Lol
J/K about the jumper cables
I'm okay with hand holding or a quick peck on the cheek (or even lips). Anything more extensive or invasive than that needs a private setting, without an audience.
