The snow finally started here. Our forecast started out in the 2 feet ranges early in the week, and has gone down every day since. We might get a foot of snow, is what they are saying now. And it almost felt like we'd only get rain, because it was not that cold and it was vaguely kind of misty all day yesterday and this morning, very ominous and cloudy but felt like Washington State out there. But now it's really coming down! Still melting on pavement for now though...but the grass is white after only about 20 minutes.
I cracked last night. Two devastating snow and ice storms killed most of "my place". A small garden with conifers, rocks, lots of daffodils, gladiolas and day lilies. A present from SO who had mature trees brought in from a local grower as I need a bit of green. They are all dead! A Japanese Maple we brought from GA/AL/TX to OK survived. Daffodils are a yellow sea between tree skeletons. It took nature three days from 29F minus to 70F plus.
I was up on the hills most of the morning. It went from 51 to 43 is real short order. It started spitting some rain on the way down the hill. The warning areas keep expanding here. The amounts in the forecast seem to go up. Bring it.
We had 48 degrees yesterday morning here in the LA area. Not used to this low temperatures. My mom saw me wearing a cardigan yesterday and she said she knew it was cold out if even I had to put something on (I'm the one in the family who is typically immune to cold temps). I know it's cold if my wall furnace fires up during the night - happens very rarely. In fact, we hardly needed the heater all winter.
I am kinda glad for all the rain we've had recently - I rarely get to experience a good downpour in So Cal. Always best to experience from indoors, with a nice hot beverage in hand or under my goose down comforter.
I have loved the rain this week! Thunder and lightning too.
My son and I took the G'babies out for the day. Did a little bit of "fun" shopping, ate, and took flowers and a gift to a friend. It was really good to get out.
Spent the day with my mom yesterday. We cried together, then laughed a lot. Needed it.
