I'm not so sure this is the case. I certainly don't care, and I'm pretty sure my friends wouldn't care about me. But the person telling the story gets some satisfaction out of it, so we all let them have their 2 minutes or whatever. My friends listen to my boring stories about other non-conquest related topics too, and that makes me feel good
They only boast about it until they find out that it isn't all that hard to have sex with a lot diffrent women.
When I was in Brazil some of these guys were called Un Corno. I'm not sure how it translate, but one guy put his fingers on his head like the horns of a bull and they all started laughing because it was an insult. They said some men are dumb like bulls , they have lots of cows but are too dumb to know that cows have lots of bulls too.

Perhaps this is counter-intuitive, but when it is public knowledge that I am a casual dater looking to take women out on adventures and have fun with no desire for a serious relationship, just two kindred spirits exploring life and the universe when it is mutually satisfying; it piques interest.
There is a tasteful way to do it and an offensive way to do it, and your perceived "status" in the group dictates how much you can get away with. I never identify my dates to others and when I am with someone, I make her the absolute center of my attention and not bring up anyone or anything else I could be seeing.

This is a good post. There are lots of men and women that are living such a life, as you said, the key is that there is a tasteful way to do it and a non tasteful one.
