I left something in my last house and didn't miss it until over a year later. I know from my old neighbor that it is still there, but at this point I'm too embarrassed to ask for it.
Have you ever moved before? The thought of leaving something behind by accident certainly does not seem that odd to me.
Yeah.... This is my fourth move in 40 years. Each time the wife and I went over the whole house. It was completely empty when we left. Nothing in any of the rooms. In college I used to work summers for a moving company. We packed up US Army War College Colonels and Lt. Colonels, and an occasional General. Everything goes in boxes. It was more than 40 years ago, but some things you never forget.

It appears that you and Manderly6 are on different wavelengths. Manderly6 is saying people in general might leave something behind by accident, while you are only talking about yourself and what you would do. Not everyone is as thorough as you in moving.
