Finding a good realtor/agent

I just relocated back to the area after being away for several years. Friends have retired and moved away. I am in a new job where 95% of the people are renting as they have homes elsewhere. Of the 95% who rent, most live in managed complexes, so no getting a referral from colleagues has not proven fruitful.

I am looking in Northern Virginia, within the beltway.

So that's like Arlington, right?

That would be Arlington, Falls Church, Annandale, McLean, some areas of Alexandria. I am also doing some looking in the towns very close to the beltway as sales are literally occuring overnight.
