I was wondering if anyone had info on new stores coming to the Rushmore Mall. I was told by a mall employee that the following stores will be coming soon: Chico's; Crazy 8; and Dick's Sporting Goods. Does anyone know of any more new stores?
I get to Rapid once per month or less, so I have a tough time keeping up on rumors. However the Rapid City Journal, rapidcityjournal.com - Rapid City, South Dakota does a decent job of that. The business section and the Business Blog mentions more than a dozen retail stores and resturants that are in the process of moving to Rapid. Your buddy at the mall would seem to be correct.
I've heard about Chico's, whatever that is. I haven't heard anything about Dick's Sporting goods. We have two major sporting goods stores already. Frankly, the mall is not doing well at all. Occupancy rate is or was around 80%. It is close to going into foreclosure. Along with the shakey state of JCP and Sears, the two anchors, I am guessing they won't be around in 5 years it doesn't look good at all.
Rushmore Crossings is expanding and growing, and busy. I only get to the mall maybe twice a year. Rushmore crossings more often.
I know Plato's Closet is coming to Rapid. It won't be in the mall (it's on Omaha I think), but I bet the store will be a huge success. The one in Sioux Falls is always extremely busy. Same with the ones around the Twin Cities.
I think Plato's closet is going into part of Office Depot's building. Office Depot is cutting square footage. Now there is talk of merging with Office Max. Office Depot annoyed me, and I won't shop there anymore. I do like Office Max.
I was just there today and know that there were several new stores opening, but didn't pay attention to what they were. You might check the mall's website to see if that will give you an idea.
Rushmore mall closing? Foreclosure? bwwwwaahahahaha now that was funny! They have a waiting list for new stores. Why do you feel the need to spread rumors? Rushmore Crossing? Bwwwahaha that's even funnier! You must have some connection right? Too bad.
SD4020 with you having over 14500 posts here and an average of over 300 a month how is it that you would even have a clue about what's happening at the mall? When was the last time you got out of your chair? ;-)
The mall is doing great and it's a huge plus for RC! It's packed all the time.
