From Portfolio.com, Raleigh has topped yet another best of....list.
In this case, 67 US metros over 750,000 were compared on over 20 different dimensions.
Can't anyone just be happy with this news? They are saying that Raleigh is a great place to live...I'm so incredibly tired of the pessimism. If we weren't on this list, everyone would be bitching about not being on it. I say, just enjoy the top of the list...you are lucky to live in one of the "best places" in the country.
The lemmings will now come, find no work, and march off into the cesspools to drown.
Can we sue these media outlets for impact fees to support the influx of fools?
Good grief! Can you be any more unwelcoming? I just moved to the area, and people like you make the area seem like it should be at the BOTTOM of the list!

Lighten up, please!
If it only were, we'd have less congestion, less pollution, lower taxes, lower water bills, uncrowded stable Wake County schools, less rudeness, and less price inflation caused by transplants not knowing what to pay for things here.
If Raleigh were a little known oasis like when we came from New Orleans 21 years ago, it would be a great place for working people to live a decent life within their means.
Welcome to you. Hope there's still enough to like about the area if it continues to sprawl out and "gentrify".

I can understand some frustration with people who come here without the forethought to ensure they've secured employment first, but I have to admit that some of the posts make people like me feel very unwelcome. One has to wonder how long one has to live here before they have the right to resent 'newer' newcomers.
For the record, there ARE people out there, like my own family, who are considering this area because we also want a good life for our family. We wouldn't dream of moving to an area without a job first, we're responsible and friendly people who live within our means... but it seems like we wouldn't be welcome because we didn't get there first. (What a pity DH was too busy serving in the military to make a choice any earlier. )
