After 5 years of living in Raleigh I finally stopped in at the Person Street Pharmacy to try one of their famous milkshakes. This is an interesting little pharmacy nestled between the Oakwood and Moredecai neighborhoods. It has been open in Raleigh since 1910 and is the only pharmacy left with a real soda fountain.
They have a special on "Milkshake Mondays" when you can get milkshake for just $2.50. I had one, and I must say it was pretty darn good. Very friendly staff there too. I was there late in the afternoon on Monday just before closing so it was quiet, but I hear it draws quite a lunch crowd. Here are a few pictures from my visit:
Great photos as usual! I used to go there about 3 days wk. They have awesome fresh made orangeade and tarty limeade. I'm not a hot dog person but one day a wk they have a steal on them & ppl say they are good. Also their grilled pimento cheese sandwich is awesome! I like their burgers...they taste steamed but yummy.
NRG great pics and what a combination! "Pharmacy Fountain & Grill"maybe Grill, Fountain, and than Pharmacy would be the more logical flow but whatever works! Thanks for the pics!

Oh, I love orangeades. And grilled pimento cheese!!! And limeade too! I'm going to add that to the list of places to take the kids this summer!!
"Person Street Pharmacy will hold a 100th anniversary block party Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. The Band of Oz will perform live, and there will be giveaways, surprises and a balloon artist. Lawn chairs and coolers are welcome"
I saw the report that the Tarheel Traveler did this week. I am sad to know that I went to Peace College for 2 years (in the 80s) and never ventured over there! I knew it was there, but I didn't know what a treasure it was.
I think a visit to DT Raleigh is in order!
