For finer dining try some of my downtown favorites....
18 Seaboard...18 Seaboard Avenue
Sullivan's Steak House...414 Glenwood
The Second Empire on Hillsbourough
There's a few threads on this already, but here goes again (it's always fun to talk food):
Jibarra (Raleigh, Modern Mexican)
J Betskis (Raleigh, who knew German/Polish food was so good)
Fearington House (Fearington, nice romantic fine dining getaway)
SuperWok (Cary, ask for the Chinese menu and you'll get awesome authentic Szechuan food, avoid the Amero-Chinese one)
Sitti (Raleigh, Eastern Med, go for the small plates)
Raleigh Times (Raleigh, for when you need a great beer and a solid sandwich)
Watts Grocery (Durham, southern)
Crooks Corner (Chapel Hill, southern)
Magnolia Grill (Durham, upscale but casual)
Lillys (Raleigh, pizza, a bit different)
Au Chan (sic?) market (Raleigh, Pho)
Xios or Jasmine (Apex and Raleigh, for an gyro)
Pooles Diner (Raleigh, my current favorite, laid back, cool, southern influenced yet gourmet in a rehabbed diner)
Coquette (Raleigh, solid French bistro)
Pit (Raleigh, BBQ in an upscale space)
Kashin (Cary, Japanese, venture from the sushi and standard stuff and ye shall be rewarded - ask them what the specials are, good ramen/udon)
Waraji (Raleigh, Japanese, for my katsu-don fix, good sushi)
Cypress (Chapel Hill, contemporary American, had one of my better meals in the Triangle here)
Frasiers (Raleigh, contemporary American, some of the best service we've had in the Triangle)
Bloosmbury Bistro (Raleigh, contemporary American, fine dining, menu changes often, had some outstanding pasta and a boar dish)
Tasca Brava (Raleigh, Spanish, passionate owners, the only place to get true Spanish tapas in the area)
