We were extremely fortunate to WIN a free weekend at Shell Island in Wrightsville Beach for this summer.
(It was a real, live, valid contest, no strings. It could not have come at a better time. )
We are now planning our weekend, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a nice, reasonably priced, sit-down restaurant in Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington? (In the past, we've gone to Atlantic Beach or the Outer Banks more often.)
I didn't want to post this on the NC Coastal forum because I don't want to know where the locals go. I want to know where Raleigh/Durham/Cary/Chapel Hill people like to eat when they go to the beach.
I love the oceanic right on the beach, it is good for lunch and dinner and of course has an excellent view. It does mostly feature seafood which not everyone is a seafood fan. I will try to think of others and ask around for you
Drat! I had a nice list of my favorites from when I used to live in Wilmington, ready to post then realized you said no locals' opinions. Why don't you want to know where the locals eat? Just curious as usually it is the other way around
Well, if you'll take the opinion of someone who lived there for 20 years but has lived here for 6 now, here you go
Seafood: Oceanic, Dockside, Blue Water Cafe. If you go to the 1st or 3rd, get the crab dip. You won't be sorry.
Breakfast: Jimbos (if it's still in business). Best waffles in town.
Lunch: J. Michael's Philly Deli (but ONLY the one on Oleander Dr.), PT's Grille, Flaming Amys. PT's especially...think of a place similar to Five Guys without peanuts, but fries that puts Five Guys to shame. Burgers are better too, in my opinion.
Dinner: Paddy's Hollow in the Cotton Exchange (simply for the ambiance), Romanelli's, Giorgio's, Elijah's
Edit - I saw Heironymous Seafood mentioned. It's not bad, but the problem is that they are extremely pricey for what you get. Other places have comparable food at lower prices. Used to not be that way.
