We got a bit of rain....but really....I just don't call normal weather....it wasn't even a thunder storm....anything to write home about much less panic.

Weather happens...always has...always will.
That's why I was hoping people would detect the sarcasm in my post. I knew the o.p. was only trying to instill panic in people.

Wrong. The storms have been building to our west and then breaking apart or splitting prior to getting here. Harnett and Johnston County ended up getting some good ones. Sorry if you are not a weather watcher, but I am.
Well I'm sorry you fail to realize that those of us, including myself, who have weather radios are already informed of developing conditions. Those who don't have a weather radio choose not to be informed and generally carry the "It won't happen to me." attitude. So I apologize if I offended you but I really can't understand why you'd make the thread other than to incite panic. I thought you were a man of common sense but I guess I was wrong about that too.

Or maybe we realize that 99.9999999999% of the storms in our area are air mass storms and occur during the day and weaken when the sun goes down. Or maybe we realize the majority of our storms (especially the noctural ones) carry returns of <50 dbz which excludes storms brewing tornadoes. Or maybe we realize that a storm big enough to spawn a tornado is going to wake you up in the middle of the night. Or maybe we aren't ignorant of the danger but respectful of it. If you get a tornado warning on your radio what are you going to do? Even if you hide in your house you will probably still die if you get hit by a tornado dead on. Toradoes are so small they either hit your house or they don't. Me? I'd rather sleep in and take my chances .
