[quote=rfb;545162][*]Fearington House (between Pittsboro & Chapel Hill). Love to stay at the Fearington Inn and walk to/from the restaurant. Both the restaurant and inn are very expensive, though, so this is a big "splurge" for my wife and me.
Been to Fearington House for a leisurely breakfast. It was wonderful, and not really that expensive. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday, and some of the shops were closed.
I'm a big fan of bakeries & coffee shops, so my favorite places are ...
1. Caffe Driade in Chapel Hill www.caffedriade.com
2. Guglhupf in Durham www.guglhupf.com
3. Valour's in Hillsborough (He doesn't have a website, but this is an honest-to-goodness french pastry shop with a real French pastry chef. It's located on King street next to Cup A Joe.)

I second this one. We discovered it quite by accident and the pastries were delicious. I am so happy to know that you can get real French pastries over here. A little pricy but worth indulging once in a while.
I forgot about that place. I ate there once and it was great!
