Times are tough and I need to sell some jewelry

Can anyone recommend a good place in the area? Preferably as close to Carrboro as possible.

Thanks

Maybe you should host a Gold Party. I haven't done this or been to one- just read an article about it.

Sell gold online, selling scrap gold, jewelry or a coin for cash is easy with GoldKit

What about doing the cash for gold, that you see online. I know in Cary, there is a store where they buy jewelry in Swift Creek Shopping Center. A co-worker sent her jewelry to the Cash 4 Gold, and got almost $300.00 back. I think there is an online site you could search for.

I would never just mail in jewelry - I would want it appraised, weighed etc right in front of me.

Treasure Isle jewelers in Crabtree and in a strip center next to Triangle Town Center.

I read somewhere that Cash for Gold will always increase their offer to three times the original amount if you turn down their first offer.

They just had a clip on Good Morning America about Cash 4 Gold. They had the pieces appraised and were worth $350. Cash 4 Gold offered them $60. When they refused the offer, they upped the offer to $80. They also tried telling them the pieces were not 14K gold (which was not true). The owner's comment was, "We don't claim to offer the best prices. We give our clients good service and convenience."
The bottom line was to go to several pawn shops, compare prices, and never take the first offer.

The Better Business Bureau gives Cash4Gold a "D" rating:

Cash 4 Gold - Gold, Silver, and Platinum Dealers - Pompano Beach, FL | BBB Business Report

and the Florida Attorney General has been investigating them:

Cash4gold: Florida AG Examining Cash4Gold Complaints

I agree--there is no guarantee that you'll ever hear from them again. Right now, there are plenty of places taking gold and silver (grab a newspaper; they have full-page ads on the weekends), and I'd definitely want to deal with someone in person, to hear their offer, before just mailing it off to "who knows where".
