I always take rankings of any kind with a large grain of salt, but here they are:

The 2019 high school rankings came out on US News and World Report. Schools across the nation were ranked on:

20% Math and Reading Proficiency based on state exams
20% Math and Reading Performance - how students performed compared to expected outcomes
10% Underserved Student Performance
10% College Curriculum Breadth
10% Graduation Rate

Triangle area schools that ranked in the top 65 schools (top 10% out of 653 schools) in NC:

2. Raleigh Charter
5. Woods Charter
11. East Chapel Hill High
13. Wake NCSU STEM Early College High School
18. Chapel Hill High

39. Hawbridge Academy
47. Apex High
48. Voyager Academy
51. Longleaf School of the Arts
54. East Wake Academy
60. William Enloe High
64. Holly Springs High

Triangle schools that ranked in the top 1,725 schools (top 10% out of 17,245) in the Nation:

Raleigh Charter not much of a surprise. Pretty solid school in these rankings.

Was somewhat surprised that Cary High was at 95 and Athens Drive High was way down at 125.

Though very happy to see that the charter Longleaf School of the Arts has climbed to 51 after six years against more established schools (Daughter graduated from there and found it to be exceptional).

Is the Wake Young Men's Leadership Academy not as prestigious as the Women's school? Just wondering why they both aren't ranked highly. I thought they had a similar admissions process.

Shouldn't NC School of Science and Math in Durham be at the top of the list? Since I don't see it, I guess it's not included.

It's the Hawbridge School, not Academy, fwiw.

Wonder why NC S&M is excluded? Seems like it oughta be there if all those early college programs are.

The Maine School of Science and Math is #2 overall and it seems like the same kind of program from the description.

The Maine School of Science and Mathematics is a boarding school that aims to foster a community learning environment by offering small class sizes, extracurricular activities and work assignments. Students live in a dorm, separated into wings by gender. The curriculum at MSSM includes Advanced Placement courses in physics, English and statistics. During January Term, students can participate in internships, conduct research projects or expand upon in-class learning.

I am guessing that because it's only a two-year school that it doesn't fit the profile, which is probably a four-year high school.

Ahh, you're probably right. The two year thing makes NCSSM an outlier.

That would be my guess as well.

I don’t think that’s true, because my alma mater LSMSA is also included in this list. It’s starts at sophomore year.

I noticed that a couple of the sister schools are not included on this list. Arkansas and Alabama school for math and science didn’t make it.
