When someone is speeding they are more alert..... Dumbest thing I have heard in a long time.

I think he meant "more alert than when texting and driving" - which wouldn't be wrong but it also increases your stopping distance if you needed to suddenly stop which is a different kind of danger (which becomes more likely if you are driving faster than the average speed of the vehicles around you)

I read the post twice. Let's wait for the poster to come back.

I like any idea that might keep me from being rear ended by distracted driver. I had another close call this morning while stopped in a work zone. Scared the hell out of me!

Had an accident in California in 2005 that almost totaled my car, but it was repairable. I still flinch when I look in the rearview mirror and see someone come up behind me too quickly.

I worry about driving in winter. My office requires me to report in most days. So I try to be careful but I worry about other drivers.

I heard tires squalling and when I looked back in the rear view a car slides by rear end first....black Corvette with older lady driving.

What's worse than someone driving a sports car? Someone who *thinks* they are driving a sports car.

(I look at my phone only when I'm stopped at a signal for the record. I assume by your accusation that I would be a "liar" if I never looked at my phone while driving that you've done that?)

Absolutely I have (albeit very rarely but I have and I'm absolutely for making all phone usage illegal while driving). And so has everyone who has a smart phone (have to be clear that it's a smart phone since I actually know two people who only have a flip phone.).
