tbone, I am curious if you ended up finding what you were looking for. I moved from California to Bahama a year ago and love it. I work in Cary, and while the commute is a bit long, it is easy with little traffic. My oldest son goes to Mangum and loves it there. I've found that the test scores at the different schools really don't mean much, it really depends on the teacher you get and how well they are able to connect with your child. Even the best scoring schools will have good and bad teachers.
The community involvement at Mangum is fantastic and Gwen Johnson, the principal is terrific. I could not wish for a better school.
In the area is the NJAA sports association that has kids basketball, soccer, and baseball and plays most of their games at Mangum. It is a great place to live if you like being in the country.
