Wondering if anyone has background on how ForeverHome won the bid to construct all of a phase 2 and 3 at The Hamptons. Lot sizes are generous and layout of homes seems more spacious than the true custom section of Phase 1, but are ForeverHome even mentioned in the same breath as the custom guys like Dickerson, Terramor, Jim Himpson, Amward, etc.?

Short answer? No clue how they got that land unless it was during the downward housing time... are they mentioned in the same breath as the other builders? Maybe Terramor... But, otherwise? No.

Thanks. I think it was around 2007-2008 so you are right. Too bad as the other phases will pale in comparison I think to the custom section. Any other comparable neighborhoods for new construction planned in that area? I find it such a gem off Ebenezer Church and would love to settle there.

I can't think of any similar developments (with new homes that are custom) near that location, but it does look like there are still quite a few homes for sale over in the custom section... did they not have any over there that appealed to you? Bad lots? I haven't been over there in awhile to see how much they had finished.

Most of the remaining lots in the custom section back up to the main road, are close to the clubhouse (not my preference as I like a little more privacy), or are out of my price range (mid-800's). I do like the layout better in Phase 2 but am unsure on ForeverHome after talking to many people in the area and having them suggest to go with a custom builder over a tract builder. I used to live in Cary Park in a Parker Orleans home and prefer to upgrade this time around, so have read good things about ForeverHomes but not entirely sure as I don't think they've yet to build homes in this price range. The experience so far with them relating to "customization" seems positive, but there is still a bit of trepidation to pay the same price for one of their homes as I would for a local custom builder. I know…I know…..1st world problems!

Forever Homes is better than Parker Orleans and other national tract builders, IMO. Do you want to live in a subdivision, or in that area?

Thanks BoBromhal. I spent 3 years in Cary Park and then moved overseas, but just came back to Raleigh for the 1st time since 2008 and really fell in love with the location of the Hamptons at Umstead, especially since I'm an avid mountain biker. I have yet to see that sort of lot size available to build in a subdivision (my preference) that is so close to the airport, RTP, and downtown , and prefer the wooded landscape to that of what I had in Western Cary. I'm relatively comfortable with ForeverHome so far as I've spoken to them to get floor plans, elevations, look at lots, etc. Seem that they took the knowledge/experience they had at Pulte and are trying to offer a better quality product and experience, and this may be the first test in trying to compete with our semi-custom builders. Starting prices though are not cheap and up there in comparison to the other local custom builders that most people in this forum recommend. I guess I'd be more comfortable if I could customer reviews from ForeverHome for similar homes, but not sure they've actually built this type of home before.

Closest thing around here is Toscana, I'd imagine.

Pulte?

I was not aware that the folks behind ForeverHome were tied to Pulte. But I have been wrong before, and guess maybe I need to do some more research.
