Affordable apartments in the Raleigh area? (Cary: rent, utilities, living)

Hello everyone. My husband and I are desperately trying to get our first apartment together (due to unfortunate financial circumstances we've been living with my mom for the past three years of our marriage). We're looking to pay anywhere from $500-$700 in rent (some paid utilities would be a bonus, but not a requirement). Despite our incredibly tight budget, we don't really have any other major requirements... I really just want a safe (quiet, if possible) place to call home.

Does anyone have any experiences renting from Spanish Trace apartments in Raleigh? Or, does anyone have any suggestions of a place to live that is cheap and safe in between Crossroads in Cary (where I work) and Brier Creek in Raleigh (where he works)? Ideally, we'd like to keep our work commute under 30 minutes.

I know you posted this a few months ago, but I'll reply anyway since you got no others.

I live at Shellbrook Court. My rent for a spacious one BR (706 sf) is $655. It's located near North Hills - I work in Cary (past Crossroads) and it takes 15 minutes to get there, 20 with traffic. I also have friends in Brier Creek and it takes 15-20 as well.

Walk-in closet. Huge bedroom. Updated kitchen. It's a great value for the location.
