Hi Raleigh dwellers,
I've only been in Raleigh since July and can't seem to find a reasonable childcare center for my 2 baby boys, ages 2 & 4. I live near Crabtree Mall and work in Cary. I need to find a preschool for the 4yr.old and I would like for them to be in the same facility. I really can't afford 250/wk for 2 even though that's not a bad price, but is there anyone out there that's been in my shoes and knows where to go. Please help this newcomer.
Thanx

Depending on the hours, I think you're better off finding a babysitter/nanny who would be willing to teach your children as well. Look for someone with an early childhood education degree/teaching experience etc. A lot of them would be willing to help you out by giving your children individualized attention, playing with them one on one, teaching them one on one, etc. and then when your budget gets a little higher, considering checking into preschools. I think, for the amount you want to spend, your child/ren may not get a good quality preschool.

When we looked into preschools in the area for our children, the cheapest we could find was about $450. It was a great preschool but too far from our home, and there were way too many kids in a class. We ended up putting our daughter in another preschool, which was about $525, and it worked out wonderfully, until we had to move.

I'd look into hiring a nanny/babysitter with a teaching background. I think you'll be happier, and so will your children.

Default childcare

thank you for your feedback.
I guess this is why I miss NJ sometimes, I can find childcare almost anywhere, but it's not all affordable. Here, most are home care centers, which i'm not against, but how do I know my children will get a great education to start. Dora and Ni Hao can't do everything.....

Don't know if this is convenient for your employment (it's in Cary), but I've heard good things about this center:
Home - White Plains Children's Center
It seems like it might be over your budget, but they do have scholarships.

Default Cary childcare

thank you,
i visited their site and it sounds really nice. The prices are scary, but aren't they all. It would be about $1450 monthly for my 2, that's alot. Oh! I'mnot liking this search at all......

I pay 162 a week and it is taking a bit dent from us every month. I honestly want to have another kid but can't afford the daycare.

We were faced with this last month- you might want to check the state listings of licensed home daycares to look for one in a good locale for you. That's what I did, and we found a place we are so happy with, and for a great price. I actually met with one lady not far from you who you might be interested in- PM if you want me to send you her info. I believe she was $170 a week....and she was working towards a degree in Early Childhood Ed.
