Not sure why moderators don't just lock these old worthless threads that have gone nowhere. It makes sense to me to prevent trolling. There should be a script that could be generated to auto-lock inactive threads after a threshold is met of no activity.
Heck, some of the mods on other forums close new threads and direct the poster to threads that are 4 or 5 years old when they ask questions about even simple things like restaurants (and most people know that the restaurant scene can change quickly) ....so it certainly doesn't seem to be something city-data is interested in addressing and in fact, some actively work against.
Hey, I didn't "unearth" the thread — it came to me — popped up high in the results in a search for something else. I was quite amazed by the OP's question, and didn't even notice the date. And what is "trollish" about a point with which senior member ScarletG actually agrees? As for "time on my hands" — just saying, it must have taken more than a few minutes to make thousands of posts here. BTW, I only came back because City-Data.com e-mailed me to say I had gotten "reputation points," and I wondered what on earth they were talking about. Seriously, if you don't want people to "resurrect old threads," then delete them. Otherwise, they live forever and continue to show up in search results. Who knows, this thread may even be preserved for posterity in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine! A little slice of history that will live forever!

Easy there. No need to to start an internet word fisticuffs.
Appears she never posted again. I sent her a PM. Probably back in Wy. by now!
