The title says (almost) it all...what are some gated housing areas in Chapel Hill & SW Durham? Interested in all types of gated housing; i.e. single family homes, town houses, apartments, etc.

Gated communities are extremely rare in the Triangle.

It's not in Chapel Hill or SW Durham, but my current house has a combination of wooden picket-type fence and good ol' chainlink fence completely enclosing the perimeter of the back yard, and most of the front yard. The gate to the back yard stays closed most of the time, but I generally leave the front gate propped open, as it seems an unnecessary and extraneous nuisance, and I may remove it altogether one day. But, if you were to buy a house in that sort of situation, you could choose to close the front gate, too, to give yourself more of that "gated housing" feel you're seeking.

Didn't a lot of cities in the Triangle pass ordinances against gated communities? Seems like I heard they thought they were undesirable for one reason or another.
