No person shall operate a motor vehicle on the highway at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law; provided, this provision shall not apply to farm tractors and other motor vehicles operating at reasonable speeds for the type and nature of such vehicles.
It sounds like the ticket was for holding up traffic in the left lane while trying to merge into the right turning lane. You should definitely speak to the DA & fight that one. It'll be a pain because you'll have to show up on your court date to plead not guilty and then be given another court date. At the 2nd court date you'll have the opportunity to speak to the DA. Take photos of the intersection so it's easy for the DA to understand as you explain your case. Btw, if the officer doesnt show up on the 2nd date, the case will get dismissed. I'm not sure about the insurance points, but it's definitely worth fighting. I hope it all works out.
Trying to change lanes safely instead of making a dangerous quick merge gets you this!
Fight it! Explain that you were in the wrong lane and were trying to safely get over.
Are there no real violators in Morrisville?
We obviously don't know the exact circumstances here, but holding up traffic in one lane while trying to get into another lane is dangerous too. If you find yourself in the wrong lane and can't over smoothly, you go on and fix it legally by making the block or a U-turn.
I certainly wouldn't automatically label the ticket "beyond awful" without knowing exactly what transpired.

You're assuming that's what happened. Could easily be one of those cases where the right lane is totally backed up turning right (because Hwy 54 is backed up), and the OP was one of those people who cruised down the left lane until the last minute, then stopped and held up traffic waiting for someone to let him in.
Not saying that's what happened, but if an officer gave out a ticket for it, my guess is that it happens frequently enough for them to be waiting for it.
