Yes exactly I was cruised down in the middle lane till last movement and then I waited there for 5-10 seconds to get the chance to merge to the right lane. This happens on Morrisville Carpenter rd every evening because of heavy traffic.
@evaofnc I came know ADA does help to reduce the points if any in this case.
I guess I need clarification. Are you talking about the American Disabilities Act. That's what ADA means to me. Maybe I've worked in HR too long lol.

To be honest, if that is the case it sounds like the cop was correct in giving you the ticket. When people do this on the 147 merge it drives me insane. Not saying you shouldn't go to court and see if the DA will cut you a deal, only that it seems fair you received the ticket.
Morrisville cops are notorious for giving tickets for stuff like crossing the yellow to get into a turn lane ahead, even if it's just a few inches. There are definitely several badly designed intersections in town and they will sit there at rush hour and hand out tickets. Without knowing the exact circumstances it's hard to comment, but I will say if this is someone holding up traffic in the through lane to get into a turn lane, then I am in agreement with giving them a ticket. Some of the other instances, it is hard to say if they are really protecting people or preventing a dangerous situation, but the law is the law and they enforce it pretty strictly. Either case, I bet the Morrisville officer will be there and will not just lay down.

You are exactly correct. I got a ticket where Avaition meets Hwy 54. I saw the cop in someone's driveway and waved him into traffic. He didn't go so I crossed the yellow to get up to the green left turn light and he was right on my ass with his lights on. Turns out that was his fishing hole. It got so big it got on WRAL 5 news at six.
I bet if you went out there during the same rush hour traffic you'd see him again. They are so nice how they try to "Help us be better drivers".

So you basically cut in line. Everyone else was sitting there waiting their turn, but you decided you didn't need to wait? Most people do this now and then. And most people know they're wrong for doing it. You can't really expect sympathy for actually getting caught, can you?
I didn't cut the line. I took left turn on Carpenter rd. The traffic was backed up on right turn lane , i didn't have any choice rather then merging to middle lane because of location i merged on the road.
I was just looking for some information on how to handle this with DA.
Where exactly where you coming from and headed? A google maps screenshot marked up would be awesome.
Normally for a ticket I would say get a lawyer. I honestly don't know what they could do for you here. You might call one that specializes in traffic offenses and ask.
I draw a red line in map to show the route i followed.
