Two Guys has been there as long as I can remember, so I'm pretty sure it's been longer than 25 years. I grew up eating at both Two Guys and Brothers Pizza next door. I hope this isn't another Hillsborough St. landmark bites the dust story.
When I started State in 80, they were already established. I am guessing it's 40+ years.
So it seems a pizza place will open in this same spot...there's a sign says "authentic NY Pizza" coming soon. Not sure if these are different owners, however.
DH went to State and introduced me to Two Guys back in the day. They had the best Chicken Parmesan ever. But since they changed ownership, the prices went up, the portion sizes went down, and the quality of the chicken was not as good. The last time we went, which was over the summer, I think, I told DH that I was pretty much over Two Guys. So sad because it used to be one of my top 5 restaurants in Raleigh.
But it makes me sad to know they are closing for good.
Drove by there a couple times this week and last. They are redoing the front, much the same as Porters and Chipoltle...with a bit of seating and a more modern look. And they just put up the new sign and it says....."Two Guys Pizza"!
The original owner of Two Guys opened a new restaurant called Ciago's. Its on St. Mary's between Peace and Hillsborough. We've been twice and liked the food, love the atmosphere. Haven't had the pizza yet.
Gator - do you know if they offer their delicious eggplant parm and also their oil and vinegar based salad dressing at the new place?
They have Eggplant Parm on their menu but I don't know if its the same. You should try it! Don't know about the salad dressing.
And they have a patio for outdoor dining when the weather is nice.
