It's been several years since that episode was filmed. It wasn't ever billed as a "Triangle" episode, it was actually billed as a "Durham" episode, so it was odder that they considered Chapel Hill part of Durham.

Some of the first words out of her mouth were I am here in the Triangle of North Carolina, even though is was labeled Durham on the website. She then went on to explain what made up the Triangle. She should have included one place from Raleigh to make it complete. She didn't just stay in Durham, she was in Chapel Hill too.
$40 a day for eating 3 meals? Entertainment? 1 person or 2?
1 person could eat out 3 meals a day in Durham for that but have to watch it. Can't just go anywhere you see. Meals here can climb out of sight. 1 person may get by with 3 dollar menu meals a day & still buy a movie ticket & snacks. Not sure what drama or sports tickets run.

It's for one person and entertainment is not included. It includes three meals and tip, and sometimes a snack, alcoholic drink, coffee, etc. between meals if she has extra money. The whole point is to eat good local food for under $40.
For eating only, that could be done, but one could not go just anywhere. Waffle House or local cafe for a $5-7 breakfast w/$1-2 tip, $5-10 lunch w/$2 tip, $10-15 dinner w/$2-3 tip. Could eat a bit cheaper at fast food places & not have to tip. Might get a beer in there somewhere. Iced tea costs now what beer used to cost in eating places.
