We need new pilings for our dock and possible will need a new dock in a few years so contemplating doing it all at once. I have a bid from Keesling ( sp?) -- who else should I get a bid from? Thanks!

I got 3 bids and they were across the spectrum. Ronn Parr the cheapest, Trademark in the middle, and Port Charlotte Seawalls the highest by quite a bit.

Just submitted today for permit (went with Trademark as his time frame was better). Since this is not in the CoPG but in the county (Harbor Heights) permit time is the longest variable.

Where are you having the work done?

I had ComDivers Marine (941-815-4635) install my dock this past spring. 2nd best price but much better workmanship than what the lowest bid does. Trademark and Innovative were more expensive by a grand or two and Charlotte County Seawalls was almost double!

I am not sure how Charlotte County Seawalls gets any business with their price. I talked with them and yes they were about double, I mentioned that and the guy said they use better materials. Funny because the others quoted the same materials...top grade marine PT lumber SS hardware etc. (I don't need the concrete not being in CoPG). They even recommended the cheaper option (Marine grade PT) saying it will last 20+ years.

Charlotte Cty Seawalls does a lot of local government work, including seawalls in PGI. This means they don't need small dock jobs, but are happy to take any they can get at 80% margin.

We are in BSI so it will have to be concrete. I have a bid from Keesling that seems reasonable and the come very highly recommended. Anyone have experience w/them?

Ron Parr is the best priced and he and his sons do good work, but geez are they slow to come out and then get done. They won't call to tell you why they didn't show but when they get around to showing up, the work is quality at a good price. At least he doesn't ask for payment until he's done. But it's gonna be on his schedule and you'll never know what that is. Would I use him again? Yup.
