Think I'll stop over Sunday morning too. Road Ranger on the way for an XL coffee and bear claw.

Just saw and photographed this 5' long tarpon in the canal behind my house. Easily the biggest fish I've seen in the Auburn Waterway since moving here in 2007.

Very cool. I've only seen one in my canal, hit my Yozuri 5 times and the hooks would not stick. Was quite a shock to see, and no one wanted to believe me . Although it was about 5' it wasn't the biggest fish I've seen back there...last year a 6'+ cobia scared the crap out of me. I was sitting with my feet over the dock edge...and at first glance I thought it was a shark.

I've heard and seen some huge splashes in the dead end near my house the last few days, I was thinking gator but maybe tarpon? hmmm...

Thanks for the Fishin Franks report...

I've caught a few in that size range. I've had a lot more than a few break off 150# test line! Nothing more frustrating than hooking up one like that and having them run then suddenly "SNAP" and your holding a leaderless rod in your hands!

I'm really excited about the possibility that we'll get another tournament in - possibly next Saturday ((That's the currently planned date!!)) So pencil that date in.

I also saw at least one juvenile tarpon later, a 30" or so Gar and lots of big needle fish. There was one major attack below the surface that sent dozen of mullet running for their mommies.
