Are you saying the catching a fish on every cast is normal? Now I really can't wait to make the move full-time and get out on the water! I may just move boat shopping up on my list!

When the bite is on it's on. I went through three bags of gulp smoke colored swimming mullet and never moved the boat. At the same time my wife went through three dozen shrimp. Almost every cast was a fish. After they ate all the tails off my gulp I just started hooking them like a wacky worm and they kept biting. There are other days when I can't buy a bite but most of time fishing is great in the harbor.

I just got back from a 32 hour grouper fishing trip offshore, every time our bait hit the bottom, we got hit or hooked up within seconds.

Even in my dreams fishing isn't that good! Can't wait to experience it firsthand. Of course, I'll have to bring she-whom-shall-be-obeyed, as she always out fishes me!

We came back with 82 grouper and snapper, and probably threw back another 100. My arms and hands are sore from hauling those hogs off the bottom.

No...not mine. I wish it were though. We chartered it out of Fort Myers Beach.

Were they mostly snapper/grunts? I have a hard time catching keeper groupers....but those grunts are pretty good eating.

HR it took me 4 and a half years to get a grouper big enough to keep and that was just last month. I've caught countless shorties and juvies. You pretty much have to go to the off shore reefs or be very fortunate at the harbor reefs.

On another note...look, our fishing thread is over 50,000 views. We really need to keep this thing going with stories and pictures of fishing our wonderful estuary.

We caught mainly grouper ( red, gag and black) we did catch a few snapper, mutton, yellow tail, red and cubera. We didn't catch a grunt, but then again we were using Pins that were almost as big as grunts for bait.
