Hi all!

I am taking 3 teenage boys 13 to 17 with me from northern California to explore Portland, Seattle then coastal areas in WA, OR and northern California including Redwood National Park.

We all never been to Oregon and Washington states!

Is there anything we should visit Portland and Oregon Coast? We will ride the light rail system, visit Powell's Book store but what about the others?

Is the drive down Oregon Coast good?

Thanks in Advance!

Just a couple of ideas off the top of my head:

Portland Art Museum: Children 17 and under get in free, and they have an impressive collection of modern art, including works from Van Gogh and Monet

Portland Trail Blazers Game: Catch an NBA game at the Rose Garden, one of the most electric arenas in the league, the place is always rocking!

Teenage boys might prefer OMSI:

Also the waterfalls in the Gorge.

Posted for you in the North CA / Redwood NP thread.

Up here, I'd say that Multnomah Falls and then Eagle Creek trail just a short ways page it, could be very memorable. Eagle Creek trail goes through sort of a gorge-like canyon, with several waterfalls. Maybe 40 minutes east of Portland. Multnomah Falls is a bit closer.

If you return on the Washington side, by crossing at Cascade Locks, consider the 1 hour up Beacon Rock monolith. Then head west to Vancouver and Portland on the WA side.
