I am accumulating a pile of papers that need to be shredded. From time to time free shredding is offered to residents. Does anyone know how to find those events?

In West Linn it has been sponsored either by the police department or the city "sustainability department." It was coordinated by the company that does our garbage/recycling. The websites for any of those three equivalent agencies in the part of town you live in might be good places to start. I recall there being several events advertised around Earth Day last year.

Just on a whim I typed "shred event portland" into google, and it looks like Cintas is offering free shredding at the Barbur Self Storage on September 14 from 10 to 1.

Ikea had it on earth day I believe. It was great--I brought a few boxes and they had a set up in the parking lot run by one of the security shredding firms. Drop and go.

If you have a Fred Meyer Rewards Card, they have a shredding machine you can use for free. At least the one at my Freddy's at the Hawthorne store does.
