More advice needed here, sorry guys!

I am looking for some couches. So far, I have found nothing that I liked and in my price range (under $1,000). Due to my weird front room, sectionals won't work. It's so hard to find any loveseats or 3 seaters!

I have looked at tons of outlets, at every shopping mall, and at a few places online and am just running out of ideas. I've tried Craigslist but not much looks promising. I'm not living with 7 boys anymore, I want some working adult furniture.

Any suggestions of where to find some quality furniture?

I don't mind used as long as it's well taken care of.

Thanks!

Craigslist... a folding futon would do the trick... just by the mattress part new. Sometimes I think lawn furniture is the best frugal option... lol! You have to be careful about used items though, like couches.... We once put a flea ridden love seat out on the curb & it was gone in 5 minutes!

HAHA we are currently on lawn furniture and it has spiders ALL over it. We even pulled a garter snake out of the loveseat when we brought it in.

We don't really want a futon or any of that college dorm-like stuff....we want grown up pieces. We are huge entertainers and need ample seating and also would like to get our place looking nice! This is the first time in years that we have actual money for a sofa, so we want to get a nice one.

Thanks!

I think a consignment shop gets you a little higher quality than CraigsList. There are a number of them around. One I've been in and been impressed with the quailty is Consignment Home Furnishing on SE Grand & Stark.

If you got good credit, La-Z-Boy has a year with no interest on most of their stuff. I couldn't find a decent La-Z-Boy recliner on Craigslist, so I bought one at the dealer. I don't know how craigslist couldn't be good for couches. I got a $1200 Levitz loveseat/sofa set for $300 on craigslist. You have to keep your eyes open and find a person who is wanting to get rid of their stuff quick.

Personally, I think a year, no-interest makes La-Z-Boy a nice option. Sometimes they do have sales too.

Anyhow, you can check out Mor furniture as well. They tend to be a bit cheaper and don't carry the crap that so many other furniture stores carry. However, they are not that cheap.

In reality though if you want a loveseat, sofa, chair or recliner set of decent quality, expect to fork out about $2000 or so.

You can also go with IKRAPEA, I mean IKEA..

My credit is horrific from 3 injured horses (1 requiring emergency surgery at UC Davis...) and student loans, but I'll check out La-z-boy.

I didn't think about Ikea. I'll have to go check it out. The problem is it's by the animal shelter and I'l come home with a few new furry companions...

I am sorry about your horses. I hope they will be okay.

Here is a place to try. It's hit or miss but kind of fun to browse.

Aww, thanks! I actually sold the horses before moving, those money pits are long gone...unfortunately the credit situation will still be around for a while.

I stopped in there this afternoon on my way home from work and thought they had some interesting pieces! I found a desk that I absolutely loved, too. They had some really cute little couches on ubersale too. I gotta bring my mom by tomorrow!
