Why is Obama allowing airplanes to be flown with duct tape holding the engines to the wings?

Precisely. I don't think the general public quite understands how expensive and time consuming it is to replace plane skins, or to make more 'permanent' fixes. Usually, they make a temp fix until they can schedule some AOG time to do it. They have to re route planes, reschedule flight crews and fit in maintenance time which all takes time and man hours to coordinate.

People complain about temp fixes like tape (which is perfectly safe) but I can guarantee they would freak out if the plane was grounded and their flight was canceled.

Pick your poison, people.

Yet another reason I don't fly.

I saw a video of a float plane that got ripped apart by a bear after food. Another pilot flew in and dropped off a case of duck tape. The pilot was able to duck tape it together and fly it back.
