Public confidence in government is at one of the lowest points in a half century, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center. Nearly 8 in 10 Americans say they don't trust the federal government and have little faith it can solve America's ills, the survey found.

The findings illustrate the ominous situation President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party face as they struggle to maintain their comfortable congressional majorities in this fall's elections. Midterm prospects are typically tough for the party in power. Add a toxic environment like this and lots of incumbent Democrats could be out of work.
The Associated Press: Poll: 4 out of 5 Americans don't trust Washington

Gee, I wonder why? You mean people don't actually trust organizations that habitually lie and distort the truth? Who'da thunk it?

Does this really surprise anyone?

You'd probably get similar statistics on who trusts a cars salesman, and other professions as well. Whats truly sad, is that we've gotten to a place where you can't trust what anyone is telling you anymore. Its just normal to not trust people in America.

The most shocking statistic I've seen lately, is that only 8% of Tea Party members blame Bush for the economy.

the most shocking to me is, that even though American's don't trust the Government, American's are still unwilling to do anything about it, and expect the Government to correct itself.

the whole, stand by and wait for something good to happen...how's that working out for ya??
