George W. Bush was not so subtle about Iran's nuclear ambitions. Obama seems to have taken the approach that its not a foregone conclusion just yet. Since the defection of this guy, and probably others, I suspect we'll start hearing the Administration start easing into language that asserts that Iran has, or intends to have, nuclear capability. The President won't be able to continue down the path of lofty rhetoric while ignoring the elephant in the room for long.

I reacted saying that whoever wanted to donate, let them. Why did the government pledge 3 million bucks to them? It is one thing if OUR economy is swell and what not. But it isn't. Imagine what 3 million bucks could have done here.

And honestly, I don't give a hoot what happens to Israel. Not in the least. Or any other nation. Just the United States. Since when did CONservative moonbat fools care about other nations? When Obama won, it was mentioned that the world (especially Europe) like him and it was " Who cares what they think??"

What fools you all are.

Your comment about "mostly right winger" is clear and convincing evidence that you know NOTHING about the issue - the nation of Israel - and so on. For as it applies to members of Congress, those on the LEFT are some of the most vocal supporters of the Nation of Israel.
Allie? Friend? LOL! They are our little baby. They suck on the left tit of the United States for their 50 billion every year. Why not use that 50 billion towards HEALTH CARE or FOOD or EDUCATION for OUR people? Oh wait! NOOOOO! That is SOCIALISM.

The idiocy of the right is AMAZING because there are no limits.

They may be your friend, compadre. They aren't mine. And they aren't our "ally" however you want to misspell it. We have no mutual defense treaty with Israel.

I don't know whether you want to call me left, right, or middle, but I completely echo theliberalvoice's comments. I have no more intrinsic reason to love Israel than I have to love Djibouti or Bhutan. And when I consider that they are a settler-invader state like apartheid-era South Africa, I have much less of a reason.

Exactly. 50 billion a year. Damn. Can you imagine what SCHOOLS we could build with that? How many hungry people we can feed? How many hospitals we could build? Roads we could improve? How much HEALTH CARE aid? Scholarships?

But NOPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! To hell with Israel. I suspect the reason why so many righties hold Israel so dear and near to them is because of some Biblical prediction which better supports my argument for WHY religion needs to stay from politics and government. My tax dollars going to fund some filthy country when my fellow Americans dont even have HEALTH INSURANCE.

Have you ever been to that "filthy country"?

And during your education, did you learn anything about "treaties" - as in agreement?

And can you answer this: Why is Israel of such strategic national interest to us - the United States?

Why then do so many of your fellow countrymen support Israel? Why is Israel supported by a majority of the Members of Congress?

There's not just one reason, but I would say that religious superstition, a more-or-less socially accepted contempt for non-white Middle Easterners, and a lack of awareness of the history of the Israeli-Arab conflict all play a role.

Ultimately I wouldn't care if they supported Israel if they weren't doing it on my dime, and making this country less secure to boot.

You actually have to ask that?
