That's very harsh. She was 17. All she wanted was to go to her prom. What she got was a major dose of bullying from parents and teachers all because she is gay.
Could she have gone to the prom with another girl incognito? I submit that yes she could have. What would have kept her from doing so?
Sounds kind of 'Stepford Wives'to me- the small town conspiracy aspect of it with all of the parents and school officials involved in the deception- very creepy- and not very Christian- these type of far right Christians give the religion a bad name- Christ would have danced with those two girls-
From what I have read, she thought she was doing the right thing by asking permission.
She asked, and she got an answer she didn't like. If she was genuinely respectful of the process, she would have been genuinely respectful of the outcome. But she wasn't. She filed a lawsuit and therefore was treated like shiite. Was it the best display of human or Christian behavior? Absolutely not. But I don't see why anyone should be surprised. The townsfolk were offended and they responded in kind.

Oh well, I'll leave you to your happy thoughts and book of black and white photos of the good old days
