What is everyone supporting him for? Did you even READ the article?

It's boorish when people rally 'round someone because they are described as a "war hero" without thought. People really are a bunch of sheep. "war hero? sure, do whatever you want...rules don't apply to you".

The "over 50" condo parks do have HOAs. They don't want white trash moving into their parks.

The GOP in this country has the easiest job in the world: Convince their electorate to believe their BS.

They dont even have to try, they outsourced that to FOX.

Probably 25% of Americans (the same number who thought Bush was doing a good job) will think this way always, they are fed a constant stream of flag waving propaganda on FOX and dont have any critical thinking skills.

You've got to be freaking kidding me.... This man fought like hell and received the Medal of Honor. He's not "just old and served in the military."

Good grief.

What does this have to do with the GOP? I started this thread to praise the Obama administration and yet it's taken on a tone of its own.

What I'm trying to do (albeit it doesn't seem to be working very well for SOME of you) is to demonstrate a modicum of statesmanship and give props where props are due - something that is foreign to some of you, apparently.

Fortunately, the GOOD people out there on both sides of the aisle slightly outnumber those that want to turn EVERYTHING into a political bash party.

Thank you Mr. President for recognizing this man's courageous acts.

BTW, I am a conservative.
With all due respect, I didn't see anything that said Obama himself has voiced any support for this guy.

Not to minimize the situation, but Obama would have made sure his face was plastered all over this moment if he did indeed step up to voice opposition.

I can't get on the Robert Gibbs bandwagon on this one because he qualified the statement with "...I think all of us believes..."

My condo association general meeting talked about this topic and decided to not even attempt to keep residents from flying the American flag. I am one of the raving liberals on this board and I am willing to pound on anybody that tries to tell me to take my American flag down. I am also a 'Nam Veteran and have a profound respect for anybody that fought the Germans or the Japanese.

I would expect any President to back this man. Rules be damned! Some things are more important than conformist rules.

The problem with this country is how easy knee jerk displays of patriotism win over simpletons, many of whom have already compared Barack Obama to Hitler/Mao/Marx, while they remain oblivious to real problems in America......
