I just want to add to this that free speech itself does not grant you the right to say whatever you want without being responsible for what you say. You can say whatever you want about any class of people you choose, just don't expect not to be criticized. That is childish. Hurt feelings does not equal oppression because hurt feelings can't be measured. Oppression, in contrast, can--it has material (i.e., stuff you can measure) consequences. So what lakewoood just mentioned is one of the benefits straight people get if they are married that gay people don't. It really is that simple, folks.

The only place where gay people have been treated more badly then in the USA is;
Many Muslim countries, Nazi Germany (they where also victims of the holocaust) Many African nations and the current former Communist states of Eastern Europe and also the Russian Federation.

Those who like to deny their fellow citizens access to the privileges and benefits that come with the government institution of marriage often rely upon the right v. privilege distinction to defend their prejudice: "Hey, we aren't denying anyone a right, because marriage isn't a right."

Now you have a population of people that together cannot biologically produce a child so it would make sense to allow them the opportunity to give these children a loving home since only a few of heterosexuals cannot produce themselves and are therefore having children of their own.
There is a purpose for everyone who is born on the face of this earth(gays included). And if we could work together more than fighting everything thats different, we would be better off. This has been going on from the beginning of time. The jews, blacks, Native americans, Hispanics...and now that we cannot discriminate against them anymore(legally that is) now its gays..
My point is people are so hell bent on opposing the sexual act of homosexuals instead of looking at them as people that have something to contribute to society just like everyone else.. People use the bible to discriminate when we are so far from the original principles of the bible its rediculous..Where in the bible did men leave their woman and children to fend for themselves?? where was divorce meant to be the solution to your marital problems??In the bible woman were to learn in silence, not run countries!!Last i checked fornication and adultery were part of the 10 commandments not homosexuality..Yet both are commited by heterosexuals daily.. I am not trying to bash heterosexuals im just saying that people in glass houses shouldnt throw stones.. the same way Christ himself would not stone the alduterer..
Just a thought...
Greetings,

You provide many valid points in your post ncdiamond !

But after careful thought regarding this issue..... most folks are simply deducing that it's just not significant enough to deserve all the
overblown attention that the pitiful U.S. media is providing .

In final analysis ..... may those "Proud Americans" whom are simply somewhat tired of hearing the same old repetitive "Grumblings & Whining's
from those whom profess not only to being "Gay" but strongly desire that everyone else on the planet must agree regarding how wonerful they
think it is ..... keep in mind that these "Gay" folks represent a very small minority in America & around the world and whom unfortunately continue to make the same old pestering noises.

The bottom line is this :
The vast majority of civilization understands that being "Gay" truly isn't the "EARTH SHATTERING EVENT" that these folks are making it out to be...... and there is the possibility that they may have truly and unknowlingly "Overplayed Their Hand" to the point that a condition known as "Deliberate Indifference" has developed among the masses.....

And as most folks are aware this condition may effectively minimize and reverse any successful groundwork that may have been acheived in any such social movement ..... Yes the tendency to "Fall Asleep" while watching the "Looney" American Media" make such a fuss over "Gays" is a most likely occurence ! "Yawn" !!!

Anyways ..... You all think about it ! ........... "Yawn" Kinda makes you sleepy doesn't it ! LOL

Thanks / Lamar

I can't even begin to tell you how much I would prefer boredom to willful intolerance.

I am glad to see so many of the above posters re-affirming their non-hatred for gays - regardless of their prior rude comments towards them I am sure the nice gay folks will appreciate to see you don't hate them. Careful what you say, you may get kissed by someone of the same sex.
Rudeness = love
Intolerance = love
Discrimination = love
Oppression = love
Wonder why the hate thing came up?

Take a visit to the primate area of your local zoo and then tell me its not found in nature.
Yeah, while your there witness the primates crapping in their hand and eating it. Just never really got how comparing yourself to an animal was a winning argument to justify your behavior.
