too early

She won't leave til around the 2010 elections, either a little before or after, depending on how much muscle she needs to show.

When she files to run against him in 2012, their 'differences' on foreign policy will be front and center.

She will own up to none of the failures of this Administration.

None.

You got that?

She's gonna beat him bloody, and probably lose to him again, but it will cripple him in his re-election effort. Hillary will give lip service to supporting the party nominee, but will not campaign for him.

Her slim hope to beat him is if the economy is still seriously in the tank in January 2010. Then she's got a realistic shot, much better than 50-50. More like 80-20.

you know I have been saying to my friends that I do not think a Republican can win in 2012. But I also do not think Obama will have a second term. I was hoping for an independent (3rd party) but I would not be shocked if Hillary is the next President. And honestly I could live with that.

For the primary, perhaps. But by that time us old farts will have become weary of being forced to talk to our doctors about our coming assumption of room temperature and will vote in a "seasoned" Republican who promises not to engage in ageism!

In 1976 Americans angry about Watergate voted for 'change' and got Jimmy Carter.

The assumption was widely held that the Nixon scandals had guaranteed a long line of subsequent Democratic presidents.

However, 5 of the next 7 Presidential elections went to Republicans.

The main reason Clinton got his foot in the door was Republican anger over Bush's broken tax pledge.

Carter
Reagan
Reagan
Bush
Clinton
Clinton
Bush

So that would be 4 of the next 7 elections. Not to be picky, but, well, okay, being picky.

I'm comparing the assumptions now (shortly after Obama was elected) with the assumptions then (shortly after Carter was elected. My reference was post-election 'they voted for change and got Jimmy Carter' ).

They thought after electing Carter that a long line of subsequent presidents would ALSO be Democrats.

Instead:

Reagan
Reagan
Bush
Clinton
Clinton
Bush
Bush

With the Pubs, the insurance companies will just drop you as usual instead of talking to you.
