Call me old- fashioned. In fact, call me whatever you like. Everyone has their own opinions on any given subject, and everyone is entitled to that ^^ I don't judge on such things, but I do decide on what I feel is right or wrong, for myself. (just as everyone else does)
That being said, I am starting to get terribly tired of flipping on the tv, the radio, looking in a newspaper, seeing billboards, magazines, web-sites, store-adds, on t-shirts, movies etc etc with sexuality blatantly exposed on it. Is anyone else tired of this as well? Sometimes I feel like, no matter where I look, I am bound to find it.
I hope this is just a fad. A fashion trend, that will go out with all the rest. Funnily enough, it seems to be getting worse, before it gets better. Grade schoolers, Middle schoolers. Yes, it is even there. Since when is it okay for little kids to wear things like.. thongs and mini-skirts? I am appalled.
Freedom of speech, and of expression is all well and good. Yet when something like this completely encroaches on someone elses freedom, how can that possibly be "fair"? No, life is not "fair" and yet... where is my freedom to go about the day without being bombarded by these things? Where is MY freedom to see such things ONLY between couples? Where is MY freedom to have MY child grow up in a society free from such.. visuals?
People have the right to harm others, in essence. People have the right to step on each others toes to have whatever they want, and to do whatever they would like to do. People can drink, and possibly cause accidents. People can smoke and harm themselves and others. So I guess, people have the right to shove sexuality in your face wether or not you want to see it.
So, again, why don't I get to have my rights? Family values, and in essence, the chance at pure monogamy?
The best I can do is in a way, refuse to acknowledge it. That does not mean it is not there, however. I do believe, the only nudity I have ever wanted to see in my life, is my husbands. Well, there is no chance at that, even if I want there to be. It's just.. unfortunate.
In this society, it just seems impossible.
Once again, I don't condone those who like to see such things, or participate in such things.. or even those who don't mind them. I just wish that there was a way to go about these things so that... You can see the stuff if you really want to, or not see them if you don't. Right now, there is no such option.
I don't feel that nudity or sexuality in and of itself is abnormal or shameful. The human body is a work of art and deserves to be appreciated. I am in agreement about the commercialization and objectification of female sexuality. The media also seems determined to turn as many women as it can into bisexuals. You're a woman so I can't imagine or understand how all this female objectification affects you but even as a straight guy I feel the media is in a race to the bottom and is reducing everyone to the level of a pubescent 14 year old boy.
Thing is where is the women rights advocates (not feminist extremists)? Where are the family and children advocates (not religious extremists)?

Your only hope is to invent a time machine ang go back two hundred years. If you do, you will find out sex was just as hot a topic then as now, the word just got around slower because Algore hadn't yet invented the innernet..!
The world is all about progress, keep up or jump off...!
What a post for someone's first time posting on here, hmm. Your freedom has not been taken away in any way, you just choose to moan about the writhing bodies everywhere. Look away, simple as that. Some people seem to be stuck in the days of yore, that'll only make you miserable.
So, again, why don't I get to have my rights? Family values, and in essence, the chance at pure monogamy?
many people believe in and have manogamy and still have no trouble with the nudity on tv and in mags and on billboards. family values is what you teach your kids no matter what is going on around them.

I know what you mean, but I dont look for it. We still have some control over what we are exposed to. I dont have a tv, choose the radio station I listen to, magazines I buy, and web sites I look at. I dont know where you live but I dont see nudity in the newspaper or on billboards or store ads where I live.
I also do not pay attention to kids underwear and I can remember wearing mini skirts in the 7th and 8th grade in the early 70's of course they came with matching bloomers.
LOL, ok just for the sake of argument I'll join in. Besides, I sympathize with the OP.
On the one hand, I don't mind nudity... but on the other hand a lot of the poses I see women in while switching past tv stations are demeaning. Why do so many music videos use sexuality to put women in demeaning poses? Why can't we show nudity in a way that makes women beautiful or powerful?
Worse, I hate that my family can't watch the nightly news without seeing an ad talking about 4-hour erections. That's just TMI!
We have young kids in this household and I want them to grow up watching the news and learn about what's going on in the world. We have a lot of discussion about what we see on the news... but I'm not really happy about the jokes our little grandkids make when the Viagra ads come on. And hearing my little 6-year-old granddaughter ask "mommy what's a 4-hour erection" is not cute.
I mean, the ads themselves are ok--it's that line about the 4-hour erections that is just a little bit much to take. I especially dislike how embarrassing these ads make my husband and my poor uncle feel, especially if any of the grand daughters are in the room. But there's no escaping it, I guess. Reality is, my family likes watching tv together. We're not about to sit around a radio to hear the nightly news. Sure, we do outdoor activities, especially in the summer... but most nights we want to stay in, find something inexpensive to do where we can share the experience but also the kids can run around when they get bored. That's usually watching television.
