Nicely stated. I agree.

LOL, now I remember. Those commercials are pretty sly though, it's not totally overt. I think they're ok for tv, you have to be an adult to really understand what's going on.

The funny thing is, I don't mind this commercial as much as the ones that talk about four-hour erections. And I don't think I'd mind having my granddaughter see this one as much as the others--it would go over her head, she'd just think it's about happy people being silly.

True, and I think we both get the OP's point about sexuality being everywhere to where it becomes a bother.

I agree that it's over the top. I actually wrote the company that produced a certain food item that started advertising in a very sexual way. (This was food, mind you!) They wrote back and said it was not their intent to be offensive etc., etc. and sent me some coupons for their food product. I didn't redeem the coupons. Since then I have just opted to buy another brand of this particular product.

Very good points. I'm reminded of the silly TV ad from the National Organization For Marriage where the (assumptively heterosexual) woman says, "If gay marriage is legal, then my rights will be taken away." Huh?

I think 9 p.m. is fair, it allows for a few hours of family appropriate programming, but doesn't take up the whole night. Those who want less racy content can watch earlier, those who want the raunchier stuff have plenty of air time, too. Something for everyone.

I saw that ad & I thought the same thing. What the heck are you talking about?? Another scare tactic. Although, the only people it would effectively scare would be not very intelligent people.

On the one hand, I don't mind nudity... but on the other hand a lot of the poses I see women in while switching past tv stations are demeaning. Why do so many music videos use sexuality to put women in demeaning poses? Why can't we show nudity in a way that makes women beautiful or powerful?

Worse, I hate that my family can't watch the nightly news without seeing an ad talking about 4-hour erections. That's just TMI!

We have young kids in this household and I want them to grow up watching the news and learn about what's going on in the world. We have a lot of discussion about what we see on the news... but I'm not really happy about the jokes our little grandkids make when the Viagra ads come on. And hearing my little 6-year-old granddaughter ask "mommy what's a 4-hour erection" is not cute.

I mean, the ads themselves are ok--it's that line about the 4-hour erections that is just a little bit much to take. I especially dislike how embarrassing these ads make my husband and my poor uncle feel, especially if any of the grand daughters are in the room. But there's no escaping it, I guess. Reality is, my family likes watching tv together. We're not about to sit around a radio to hear the nightly news. Sure, we do outdoor activities, especially in the summer... but most nights we want to stay in, find something inexpensive to do where we can share the experience but also the kids can run around when they get bored. That's usually watching television.
As an individual and adult, all the sexuality doesn't bother me. I'm monogamous, happy, and can deal with all the nudity you can throw at me

But as a parent, I have to agree with the OP. I'd just like to keep my kids innocent until they're at least 10, which won't happen in our society. I'd like to see the boner ads taken off TV, as well as all ads for drugs! By watching the nightly news, you'd think only nursing homes were tuned in! And then the sitcoms have just become too raunchy - Two and a Half Men comes to mind, mainly because re-runs of it come on after Everybody Loves Raymond while we're having dinner, so I have to change the channel. I just find the show to be stupid to start with (who writes the jokes, a pack of 6th grade boys?) and every show has a blatant sexual reference within about the first 30 seconds. If people like it, fine, but don't put it on at 6 p.m.!
