I would never wish the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to be silent. No way! His name shall be shouted from every mountaintop and over every sea in the world!
I am just making the point that the holiday we call Christmas is really a bunch of BS. It was not started as a Christian holiday nor is it celebrated as one now. I mean, where would Jesus shop? Would Jesus trample old ladies at Wal Mart to get a cheap DVD player? You really should not put Jesus down by saying all of the stuff that goes on is to honour him.

Some Chirstians often state that Christmas is being "stolen" for secular means but I would point out that they stole a secular day the Pagens used to celebrate the beginning of winter and the New Year and they made it Christmas for their puposes.
Real original. Like I said before, no one has a patent on gift giving or tree decorating. Additionally, using December 25th as a time to celebrate Christ's birth was to attract pagans to Christianity...how horrible!

I have stated that I was against the commercialization of Christmas or did you miss that posting.

I take it back.

Christmas as it is currently celebrated is under attack, though principally by observant Christians.

There are some reasonable arguments for the December 25th date, though it is hardly the easiest argument, based on some of the biblical data.

There is also historical precedent for ceasing celebrating it in parts of the U.S. because the celebrations are out of hand or because we perceive it to be more attached to another nation (ironically, given that they had perceived it, previously, to be too Papal).
