Criminals have too many rights these days meanwhile the victims suffer.
Agreed. Its a ridiculous ruling.

I've seen it a number of times. Burkhas without the face covered are even more common. And in various cities.

Give each one a sheep or a goat instead. It is traditional. All you need is a good lawyer to live the high life in NY. IAs are discovering the generosity of US courts for the least little perceived infraction.

the new American Dream!

NY courts are have become horror shows, where taxpayer cash is awarded and spent as a bromide for self loathing.

I can’t speak for the ladies in full cover, but many of the people I met were from Yemen.

Obviously, that ship has sailed.

So with that stated, I have no problem with Muslim women wearing hijabs. I also don’t see why they can’t be photographed that way. You can still clearly see who they are.

Niqabs and Burkas are a whole other thing, and those must be removed if arrested.

Also, they should not be getting millions, that is stupid.

But we are a stupid country, so we deserve this nonsense.
I do not care what people do in their homes and places of worship. But we all have the same rights and responsibilities in the public square.

If some cannot abide by these laws and customs they need to live where they can.

What did these muslims lose?

If I remember this correctly, compensation usually amounts to 2 to 5 times the total cost of your medical bills. Let's assume these Muslim seek professional counseling for their emotional distress, all they deserve is 2 to 5 times the total cost of their medical bills.
And that’s probably all they are getting. This is a class action lawsuit, meaning the $17 million will be divided up among all 4,100 eligible class members. Once approved, the guaranteed amount per person is about $8k.

No, it’s two muslim women who files a class action lawsuit. It says so in the original article.

Quote:
The preliminary class action settlement covers men and women required to remove religious attire before being photographed. It was filed on Friday in Manhattan federal court, and requires approval by U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres….

Payouts will total about $13.1 million after legal fees and costs are deducted, and could increase if enough of the more than 3,600 eligible class members submit claims. Each recipient will be paid between $7,824 and $13,125.
