Exactly. It isn't the same thing at all because the vast majority of the time (98.3%), abortion terminates a healthy pregnancy. There's no reason to make a difficult life or death decision about a mortally injured individual. It's just killing for the sake of convenience.
That's exactly what convenience abortion (98.3% of all abortions) is: the killing of another individual just because one wishes to do so. The developing baby has:
1) Different DNA than the mother
2) Frequently a different blood type than the mother
3) About half the time, is a different sex than the mother
It is a unique individual, not just an extension or part of the mother's body.
You get 50% of your DNA from your Mother, and 50% of your DNA from your Father.
Your blood type with be either from your Mother or your Father.
The Father determines the sex of the Child. Women only have XX chromosomes. Men have XY chromosomes. If the child gets it's father's X, it will be female. If it get his Y, it will be male.
You weren't taught any of this in HS Biology? You seem to think that MALES play no role whatsoever in a child's DNA.

Why can't the mothers consider their partners more carefully? Especially since they're the ones who get pregnant. I know the left absolutely hates science, but this is just scientific fact.
Furthermore, why can't women take responsibility for their own reproductive health? 95% of unintended pregnancies are due to women voluntarily participating in unprotected sex (neither partner using birth control), by their own admission. WHY??? Are they just too stupid? Incompetent? ...Has it just been way too easy to use abortion as a birth control method? What in the hell is going on that 900,000 developing babies are killed each year just because women can't be bothered to get and use freely available birth control or insist that their male partner use a condom?

Laws against murder don't prevent murder, but they do provide a powerful disincentive to kill by implementing a severe penalty for doing so. It's all about whether our society values human life or not. If we do, there are laws against killing others. That includes abortion as abortion kills.

A majority of people in this country don't agree that a fetus that is one month, two months, three months old is the same thing as a living human being. It is a potential human being. Anti-abortion people use extravagant rhetoric when they describe an abortion during this first trimester as "killing a human". Claiming that is so does not make it so.
Attempts to regulate abortion at these early stages will ultimately fail simply because this attitude is out of step with science and with what the clear majority of this country believes.
You can go on all day long about a fertilized egg is the same thing as a child.
The problem is two-fold. It cannot survive on its own outside the mother until it is approximately six months old. Second, the majority of Americans simply don't agree that a fertilized egg or young fetus is a child our ultra-conservative supreme court notwithstanding.
Let me tell you what is going to happen. Those of us who oppose these restrictions will undermine anti-abortion laws every chance we get. We will make holes in the laws big enough to drive a train through. Anti-abortion laws will eventually fall of their own weight.
Sorry, but if it's illegal to kill a developing baby, and it iseven in blue states, that should apply to EVERYONE.
