It would take a strange point of view to see Zelensky as some sort of loser at this point in the war. His country was attacked, so of course there will be enormous damage.

Putin needs a way out. I wouldn't look for it to be offered immediately, but maybe something can be offered when Europe manages to get through the winter without Russian gas. The tanks in Europe are already over 80% full; that's ahead of the directive with called for 80% by Nov 1.

In the meantime Ukraine needs the time to bring heavy weapons up to the new front.

Putin loves to tell the story of a cornered rat that attacked a young Putin and turned the tables. He did not recognize Ukraine as being cornered. But then, no one in the Kremlin dares tell Putin the complete truth.

Modi and Xi? Yeah, not a good week to be Putin.

I keep telling you people, look into this guy:

His tally only counts if there's photographic evidence, and he (with a team now) is working hard to use verifiable geodata and to avoid duplicates.

Russia essentially sells two things: Petroleum products and weapons. They've just cut off their largest oil & gas market, and their war hasn't exactly inspired confidence in their weapons. And now Modi and Xi are washing their hands.

The initiative has passed from Russia. There's a long slog yet - but as Churchill said, it may be the end of the beginning.

I'm with you on this one. As bad as the Nazis lost, the German people are still doing great. You can't say the same for the Jews who still haven't recovered their pre-holocaust population. Yep, always strike the first blow.

It's not great, but it's better than what it was. Half of Germany lived behind the iron curtain. Germany was effectively neutered. Angela Merkel is a product of the old outdated Soviet system. Early on in her life, she was a member of a Marxist communist youth movement group, and later she attended Karl Marx University. She is exceptionally fluent in Russian. I suspect her life story explains why Germany was so weak with Putin and continued to rely so heavily on Russia for energy.

Russia has lost hundreds of heavy military vehicles—including over 100 tanks—in recent days, according to open-source intelligence reports. It also lost several pieces of classified electronic-warfare equipment that are now in the hands of Western-allied forces. Many Russian soldiers—in the thousands, by some estimates—have either surrendered or will become prisoners of war.

..it's only numbers but the bottom line is...Russia is getting it's ass kicked..

The Russians have lost about half of what they had gained as of March 18th. Hopefully the Ukrainians are able to continue their progress in the east.
