There's speculation that the United States could turn into a dictatorship by 2030? Do you think this will actually happen?

Maybe. But I certainly believe it will keep sliding toward tyranny and/or authoritarian collectivism unless something is done to stop it real soon. There is a point of no return. And if we haven't reached it yet, we've got to be standing right on that cliff now.

Not as a whole. Any attempt would trigger a real civil war. It would require getting the military behind it without the military fragmenting. That's not happening.

I don't think we will.

But I think when the roaches are not skittering away when the lights get turned on it is not a good sign.

It became a dictatorship before 2022.

In case you were wondering what the correct name for "governing the country via Executive Orders that don't support acts already passed by Congress" is.....

I’m hoping for as peaceful a breakup as possible.

No, too many weapons in the hand of the citizen.

Any dictator would be the dictator of Los Angeles or San Francisco and nowhere else

We're probably only one or two Supreme Court Justice votes away from it happening already. If they don't spike the OSHA vaccine mandate, the signal they will send is the President can simply rule by decree, using the administrative state to create or amend laws wholesale.

IMO you put too much stock in your countrymen's willingness to take up arms against dictatorial rule. If the last two years have shown me anything, it's that a dismayingly small portion of Americans are willing to stand up and push back against governmental power grabs. The very thin silver lining is, it's now much easier to understand how Nazi Germany came to be, or how communist revolutions succeeded around the world for decades.

I'm hoping people who are trying to break us up, and see that as a positive, go somewhere else.
